Assateague Island

ISLAND PAW PRINT

Our Story: How did Spike’s paw print end up at the gates of Assateague Island? …to see the progeny of the historic herds of horses that arrived in the Americas some time in the 1600

Chucks! We’ve got to return.

Well, we made it to Ocean City, and then we drove over to the island–almost.

Unfortunately, when we arrived at the island’s public park entrance, the road was closed due to the Covid-19 distancing restrictions.

We thought we’d leave Spikey’s paw print there anyway. We will have to return to see the 300 horses and ponies that call the island home.

Fun Fact: The Assateague Island horses share two states as their home. Both states use different means of population maintenance. Post your response telling what those 2 states are and how you might be connected to those American states. One of the state’s is the home of my birth: Ft. George Meade!

We’ll be looking for your posted answers!
