Joy! Yesterday was one of my most joyous days on this journey. I am a free bird as is my dog. We don’t like to be held down and so quite often he is off-leash. But, when he became paralyzed, I put the leash away. Since I had to carry Spike everywhere, I retired his leash.
The day before yesterday, I retrieved his leash from the pits of doom–somewhere in my jam-packed Jeep. I took him for a short walk and then let him roam at his own pace off-leash again. However, yesterday, I put Spike’s leash on and we went for a short jog. He did a magnificent job keeping up with me. For a dog that used to out-pace me, seeing him on a leash and keeping up with me was such a joy. It is a joy that continues to warm my heart, fill my veins, and make me smile.
A leash: it is a tool to control the whereabouts of a dog that “walks.” I am happy to have Spike back on a leash. A leash equals joy.
Look at my boy!! Proud and Majestic!! Posing dog show ready!! I am ecstatic that’s he’s walking and happy again <3 Hugs from Grandpa John!
Yes! As are we. There is still trepidation that it could happen again as it was so sudden.
